INTERVENTION - KATHERINE NT.

2009, 56 mins

Writer/Director: Julie Nimmo.

A record of the impact of the first year of The Emergency Intervention in the Northern Territory region of Katherine and the surrounding communities of Beswick, Barunga, Eva Valley and Binjari.

Shot over a period of 8-months, the documentary features the lives of ordinary community residents as they experience the Intervention first hand, as well as the various government and business workers who came together to implement it.  What shines through are the good intentions of those individuals.

Outcomes can be judged at the end of the film with the benefit of hindsight, but the hopes of everyone involved was to make the world a better place for Indigenous children. Unfortunately, not everyone can be right all of the time.
